OriginalMD
Genetics-informed primary care. Denver, Colorado.
Most primary care visits last fifteen minutes. Most specialists treat a single organ system. Medical records are divided among portals that do not communicate. For patients with rare or inherited conditions, or with symptoms that remain unexplained, this model fails quietly and repeatedly.
One physician, trained in both family medicine and clinical genetics, provides the full scope of primary care: diagnosis, treatment, prevention, and management of acute and chronic illness, from early adulthood through late life. A small panel preserves the time this work requires.
The Practice
Membership-based primary care for adults
Genetics-informed primary care for adults, integrating family medicine and clinical genetics in one physician. Small panel. Extended visits. Direct physician access. Comprehensive primary and preventive care, with particular depth in Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, rare and inherited conditions, and cases that remain undiagnosed.
Clinical approach
Before the first visit, Dr. Long evaluates your prior care in full: previous workup, imaging, laboratory results, specialist notes, and treatments already tried. The initial appointment lasts 60 to 90 minutes and concludes with an initial diagnostic and treatment plan, developed with you.
Once your visit is scheduled, you sign a release and we request your records from your prior clinicians directly. Please do not send medical records by email.
Each test is ordered to answer a defined clinical question. When a result is inconclusive, including a variant of uncertain significance, that uncertainty is stated plainly and the next step is decided with you. Specialist referrals are coordinated physician to physician, and their recommendations are integrated into a single plan. Screening and prevention are individualized to your genetics, family history, and risk factors.
Continuity
The same physician directs your care over time, revising the plan as your health changes and as the interpretation of your genetic findings is updated.

How It Works
What membership looks like over time
Prior evaluations obtained and assessed before the first visit. A 60- to 90-minute initial appointment covering clinical history, current concerns, and goals of care, concluding with a preliminary plan.
Targeted diagnostic testing, initiation of treatment, and specialist coordination as indicated. Direct physician access. No front desk or phone tree.
Ongoing management of chronic conditions and screening individualized to your genetics and family history. An annual comprehensive reassessment, with the plan updated as clinical and genetic evidence develops.
Adults, from early adulthood through late life, seeking a long-term partnership with a physician who provides comprehensive primary care informed by genetics. Particularly suited to rare disease, Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, conditions that remain undiagnosed or incompletely explained, and patients who want their genetic information applied to routine care.
Services
There are two ways to start
Dedicated time on a defined clinical question, addressed across family medicine and clinical genetics, concluding with a specific diagnostic and management plan. Relevant prior records provided in advance are evaluated before the visit.
